On November 5, 2014, Paula England, ASA President and Professor of Sociology at NYU, gave a talk to the District of Columbia Sociological Society (DCSS) audience titled “Hooking Up and Romantic Relationships in College Today.” The event, held at the ASA Executive Office, was a sort of pre-Annual Meeting Presidential Address. Her talk sought to give a descriptive portrait of hooking up and relationships in college today as well as show ways in which, despite much change, patterns remain very gendered. Based on her presentation, it looks like it should be a very interesting Presidential Address in August.
